What a wonderful day here at Beggars Tomb! I know it is a rainy cloudy day but that just makes it so much more relaxing to curl up in the oversized recliners, with a warm blanket, a dog clamoring to get under the blanket and a good book. As this new years has progressed so far will already have been bombarded with political rhetoric concerning the tax issues and the fiscal cliff. Amazingly the idiots in Washington came to an agreement, but what actually does the agreement do? It does stop income taxes from going up on a lot of Americans but you and I are still going to being home less money per paycheck than we did last year. Under President Bush our burden to Social Security was decreased by 2% and passed on to our employers, but now that has expired the burden has come back to the worker to pay and you and I will bring home less money. Now truthfully, if these dollars were used for what they are supposed to be used for I am sure that this is not all the hard of a pill to swallow, but yet our President and our Congress have seen fit because they have worked so hard and done such a good job for the American people they have given themselves a pay raise! Not just a 2 or 3% pay raise which is the average amount a salary is increased in the United States, but a staggering 25% increase in salary. What have they done to deserve this? During the election Mitt Romney made a comment concerning 47% of Americans that caused a big stir, but part of the 47% that Romney was referring to are sitting in the oval office and in both houses of congress. They are parasites making their living off of the sweat, blood and tears of the American people then have the gall to give themselves a pay raise when for the last four years they have done nothing. This country is beginning more and more to look like the Roman Empire when it failed. Our leaders care nothing about the people, our middle class has all but disappeared, we all have become slaves to a system that is stacked against us. There is one difference in America and Rome though instead of playing the fiddle like Nero did Obama only is taking a vacation that is costing you and me 7 million dollars. The words of the Declaration of Independence are resonating more and more as the options for the American people to take back their government dwindle. “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. –Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government.” The government slowly but surely has chipped away at our liberty until they have essentially taken the Bill of Rights and the Constitution out of the equation. They have suspended the habeas corpus has been suspended. Our government no longer needs a reason to detain us and if they do they do not have to give us reason or our day in court. Now they are trying to trample our right to bear arms. I guess for some trading liberty for a false sense of security makes them sleep better at night, but I would not give you a hoot in hell for any damn fool that says oh its ok we are safer. We are not safer. Regulating guns does nothing to stop crime or deranged individuals from committing them. Since Sandy Hook the national argument has been about renewed efforts to legislate and control guns, and although it is sad that so many died gun laws are not the answer, and they would not have prevented it. All gun laws do is take guns out of law abiding citizens hands. The criminal element doesn’t care about the laws anyway, that’s why they are criminals, so there is no way it will keep firearms out of the hands of offenders. Piers Morgan has also been waging a nonstop barrage on his show and in the media pushing for gun control citing that in his country they have less gun deaths because guns are strictly regulated in the UK. Mr. Morgan is right but the part of the story that he is leaving out is while they have less gun deaths their violent crime rate is 65% higher than the violent crime rate in the United States. This country is not the country I was born in, it has changed that much in the blink of an eye that I have been on this planet. Where are our leaders, and I am not referring to the people we have in Washington because they are lesser sires of greater men. We need strong people to lead us and we are given morons. Maybe Kennedy should have said, “Ask not what you can do for your country, Just let it do for you.” because that is where we are.
