Today a state court in New York reminded Michael Bloomberg that he is not the czar of New York City and it is not his place nor is it his responsibility to make decisions for me or any one else. For those of you that are not aware of what’s happening in New York, the mayor wanted to ban certain size of sugary drinks such as soda and pretty much force onto people what the city government has deemed as a healthy or healthier serving. Mr. Bloomberg said,” We’re not banning anything. It’s called portion control,” Bloomberg said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “It’s a typical way that companies use to and governments use to explain to people what’s in their interest and what isn’t.” As an adult I do not need the city of New York or a company to make any decisions concerning my health. The audacity of the city government of New York to think that they have the authority to limit the portions of what an individual consumes is beyond disbelief. A New York Supreme Court Judge Milton Tingling stopped the Bloomberg administration from carrying out the ban. The main concern of this is Mr. Bloomberg has the audacity to believe that we need government to tell the individual citizens what is in their best interest. What is in the best interest of the citizens of New York and this nation is to have elected officials that understand they are elected to serve the people and are restricted by the state Constitution and ultimately the federal Constitution. What the citizens needs is for theses officials to wake up and realize that we do not need the constant interference and meddling that always comes with a select elected few that think they better than the individual themselves. State Supreme Court Justice Milton Tingling in Manhattan ruled the new regulations are “fraught with arbitrary and capricious consequences. The simple reading of the rule leads to the earlier acknowledged uneven enforcement even within a particular city block, much less the city as a whole … the loopholes in this rule effectively defeat the state purpose of the rule.” and New York City is “enjoined and permanently restrained from implementing or enforcing the new regulations,” Tingling ruled. How could anyone not consider this an infringement on the rights of the individual? In our country no matter who has power, they want to control and manipulate the population in order to force their views and opinions onto them. We as citizens are continually bombarded and besieged by morons that think we are to stupid to make decisions for ourselves, this is true whether you look at the local or federal level. The majority of politicians have been corrupted by the two party system that has strangled and thoughts and ideas that we have any chance of truly free elections. The two party system as it is now constantly keeps a wave of candidates that will maintain the status quo and systematically work to undermine this nations rights and morals. What this nation does not need is not a ban on sugary drinks, what we need is a ban on toxic politicians that have gotten above themselves. This case is indicative of the peril that Liberty is in. We are continually being challenged and required to accept the limiting of our Liberties be it from Barack Obama or the Michael Bloombergs of the world. They want to return all of us to chains as slaves of the state with no concern for our individuality or the rights and freedoms that are endowed to us by our creator. This one small example is an illustration of the broader situation that we are facing in America today. We are treated as children that need looking after and they think we do not have the ability or intelligence to look after ourselves. What we need is no more intrusions into our personal freedoms by the state. What we need desperately is a return to the days where government knew and respected the limitations of power put on it by the Constitution before the great usurpation of power began. We need an awakening in this nation where we as citizens and individuals finally wake up and say, “We are not taking this anymore.” That one weapon is the one that we possess that the government fears the most and they strive to take it from us at every twist and turn and that weapon is the Voice of the People.
